Collective Beauty Haul: Feel Unique & Nykaa (ALL ABOUT SHIPPING AND CUSTOMS)

Hey guys!

I have been shopping for makeup on and off along with constantly trying out new products over the best few months! Since I have bought quite a bit of stuff in the recent past, I have decided to divide my haul into two posts rather than bombard you with one never ending blog post. So without going into too many details, lets begin!

The items shown in this post have been bought on & (my two favorite beauty sites! Nykaa is an indian website with tons of brands such as NYX, Batiste, Makeup Revolution; which aren’t that easily available over the counters in Indian drugstores! There are options of cash on delivery as well with great service that makes life really easy! On the other hand, FeelUnique is hands on one of the best international sites that deliver to India! What I love about is it’s amazing collection of brands such as Rimmel London, NYX, theBalm, Real techniques etc. It also houses brands that are easily available in india such as Maybelline and Loreal. However the makeup collection is international and you will find a lot of products that are not available in India (example: Maybelline  New York under eye eraser!) offers free shipping to India for an order over 60 pounds (Approx 6,000 Rs). There are no additional custom chargers. If your order is less than 60 pounds, there would be a shipping charge of 15 pounds (Approx Rs.1500).

Since  I bought these products a while ago, I have tried post of them out and will try my best to give as many details as possible. For the products that I can’t give much information about in this post, please comment on Instagram and I’ll surely give you an update!

Skin Care & Other essentials:

1. Nivea Oil in Lotion Cocoa Nourish (Rs. 120): This body lotion works really, really well for dry skin! I love lotions that spell of coconut and cocoa butter and this ofcourse was right up my alley! It’s extremely light weight and is not sticky on the skin either.

Bought from:

2. Feel Unique Perfect Complexion Blending Sponge (3.38 pounds):,  I wanted to try out different dupes of the beauty blender so got my hands on this one! I have already tried the real techniques sponge that I am obsessed with and to be honest, this does not match up to it. It does the trick of blending foundation into your skin but the effect is no where close to being flawless. The sponge is also not super soft like the real techniques sponge or the original beauty blender.

Bought from:

2. Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water (3.35 pounds): This  is my holy grail makeup remover. It’s absolutely fabulous. This micellar cleansing water works wonders to take out stubborn waterproof makeup without stinging your eyes or making your skin feel oily afterwards. It does such a great job that you after using the product, you need not even wash your skin and simply pat your skin dry. It’s the PERFECT dupe for the bioderma cleansing water and I swear by it!

Bought from:

Base Makeup:

1. Maybelline Dream BB Fresh (7.99 pounds) : I love using BB creams and hence I am always on the lookout for new ones. I bought this BB Cream as it claims the following:

– Creates a natural glow.
Compliments skin-tone.
SPF 30 UV protection.
Hydrates all day.
-. Blurs imperfections.
Oil free, non-greasy.
Looks visibly smooth.
Feels fresh.

Having used it a couple of times, I can say that it sticks to all its claims. It is pretty lightweight and doesnt feel sticky on the skin! I do however moisterize my skin before using this. It has a pretty good coverage for a BB cream and I was very pleasantly surprised.

Bought from:

2. NYX Above and Beyond Full Coverage Concealer: I have used this concealer only once and my first reaction is that I don’t like it. You need to apply this concealer on your problem areas with a brush. It’s a very high coverage concealer but is way too drying. In fact, I found it so drying that in my opinion it highlighted an area more than concealing it. I would try it a couple more times to see if it works better.

Bought from:

3. NYX Wonder Stick (10 pounds): I was really excited to try out a contour/highlight stick and when I saw this one from nyx, I knew I just had to pick it up. It’s a cream contour and highlight stick thats really easy to apply and blend. If you’re new into contouring, I would highly recommend this product since you can apply the skin directly into the areas required and simply blend the product with your fingers!

Bought from:

4. Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder: (3.99 pounds): I am one of those people that don’t leave my house without using a little bit of powder of my T-Zone so every chance I get to find the perfect mattifying pressed powder, I grab it! This one by Rimmel does a really great job and offers a great amount of coverage too. Sometimes, I wear it alone with just moisterizer on my face. If you any recommendations for a loose mattifying powder, please let me know! I havent found any that I like till date.

Bought from:

1.  Eylure London Complete Eyelash Kit (7 pounds): I am not a fake eyelashes person at all and haven’t tried a single pair ever. I bought this kit hoping that it will help me initiate into the Falsies world. The kit has everything you need from re-usable eyelashes, to an applicator and glue. But, truth me told: I havent tried it yet! I am just so scared of trying false eyelashes. Maybe, one day I will! It’s on my list.

Bought from

2. Maybelline Rocket Volum’ Express (7.99 pounds): If you have been following my blog and instagram for a while, you would know that I am completely obsessed with Maybelline’s The Falsies Mascara. It’s something that I buy again and again. This time however, I tried to experiment a bit and it worked! This Rocket Volume Express Mascara gives your lashes trememdous amount of volume making them look thick, and fuller. However, when it comes to lengthening- probably not so much. I would suggest pairing this one with Benefit’s Roller Lash Mascara for the perfect balance of volume and length.

Bought from

3.Maybelline New York Liner Express Eye Liner (5.09 pounds): If you’re looking  for a precision eyeliner, it’s this one! I am horrible at applying eyeliner so my goal is to find products that are very easy to use along with giving me scope to mess up. This eyeliner has the thinnest tip EVER. So, you can go slow and steady and create the perfect wing with precision. However, it requires patience since you won’t get the perfect wing in just one swipe.

Bought from

4.NYX Eyebrow Pencil: ( 5 pounds): For all those asking me how I fill in my brows in my recent selfies- here’s your answer. I am absolutely obsessed with NYX’s products and this one doesn’t disappoint either. This eyebrow pencil is so easy to use and feels just like a crayon. It’s really as simple as colouring in light short strokes to give off the perfect natural yet filled in look. I highly recommend this one.

Bought from feelunique.comIMG_7706

1. L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Moist Matte Lipstick – PM414 Sheer Plum (Rs.740): This is my THIRD bullet of this shade: Sheer plum and left to me, I can see my self buying 100000 more. This lipstick is really as perfect as it gets. It’s moist and matte at the same time; a combination thats so rare to find. The colour is a brownish purple and it looks fabulous on indian skin tones. TRY IT OUT!

Bought from nykaa,com

2. Rimmel Lasting Finish Colour Rush Intense Colour Balm- VIVA VIOLET ( 5.99 pounds): Just like Sheer Plum, this Colour Balm by Rimmel is my second bullet since I just cannot get enough of it. This balm is perfect for everyday wear when you want to glam up your look without putting in too much effort. It’s super comfortable on the lips as well since it has a really moisteruizing. It’s not very long lasting but I don’t mind at all since I carry it in my bag all day and re-apply it when I feel the need. I just love the pop of colour it gives to the lips in one swipe!

Bought from

3. L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Collection Exclusive Pinks EVA (Rs. 796): If a berry or violet shade is too much for you, then you should get your hands on this perfect pink-nude. I was looking for a shade like this for such a long time but couldn’t find one that suits my skin tone. EVA by loreal looks beautiful on my lips without washing me off! I love darker colours but this one is really nice for a day-to-day pink, especially in the summer.

Bought from

4. L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Collection Exclusive Pinks0 JLO (Rs. 796): & here we are back again, with a berry shade! As it’s pretty obvious by now, I am obsessed with dark purple-berry lip colours. I feel it suits my skin tone (or duskier skin tones) really well! What I love about this shade is how long wearing it is. It has the perfect balance of pink and purple and I feel one can pull this off in the day time too with a crisp white shirt!

Collective Beauty Haul: Makeup Revolution, TOPSHOP Beauty, Fleur de Force Makeup & more!

Hey guys!

I’m back with my third post this week! {let’s take a moment to pat me on the back! Haha just kidding! } Im so happy to be posting so regularly for you all! Thank you so much for the wonderful feedback 🙂 In today’s post I will be sharing with you some of my recent beauty buys! Everything from Nykaa and Feel Unique has been bought by me using my money! Clinique and Estée Lauder lipsticks were bought by my dad as a gift.  This post is not sponsored in anyway! However, hello nykaa people! I would love to work with you! HAHA

FullSizeRenderMakeup Revolution London Ultra Blush Palette

Shade: All about Pink

Let me confess: I love blush. No, seriously I LOVE IT. If there’s one product that I wear every single day with or without any foundation, its blush. This is also one product that I hoard and can’t get enough off. When I saw this product in the Nykaa sale, I knew I just had to get it. Even though the palette’s name is All about pink, there are 8 lovely shades which range from pink to peach and even orange. It’s the perfect blush palette which will suit most skin tones! My first impression was that the shades were really pigmented and the pan sizes are nice and big!

Original Price: Rs. 1350

I got it for: Rs. 1013

It’s still available for Rs.1013 as of 24th October’15 on

Makeup Revolution London: Salvation Palette Professional Eyeshadows

Shade: What are you waiting for?

This palette consists of 12 shimmer shades and 6 matte shades. I don’t wear too much eyeshadow and really want to start experimenting more. I know I still haven’t reached the point where I can experiment with crazy colours like bright blues, greens and yellows and so decided to buy a more everyday palette with really easy to use and wearable colours. The shades are so pigmented and I love how they’re perfect for fall/autumn. The shades range from pinkish shades, plums, champagne, golds, bronze to charcoal! I can’t comment on how long they last but would love to a do a review if you’d like!

Original Price: Rs. 1350

I got it for: Rs. 1013

It’s still available for Rs.1013 as of 24th October’15 on

Colorbar Perfect Match BB Beauty Balm

Shade: 002 Honey Glaze

I prefer wearing BB creams on a daily basis as compared to foundations. I am almost out of my current everyday BB cream- Loreal’s Nude Magique. That BB cream is so amazing that it has really raised my expectation levels from other products. I hadn’t read too many reviews of this colorbar product and in fact bought it only cause I have never tried anything from colorbar before! The claims of the product looked really promising and it has sf 20 plus its paraben free. I just cannot comment on how I feel about how it feels on my skin since I have not worn it yet, but will surely update you!

Price: Rs.550

 TONI&GUY Prep Heat Protection Mist

I have heard of tony&guy products quite a bite and really wanted to try them out. Luckily, even though I have coloured my hair, it hasn’t been damaged (at least that’s what it looks like). However, I do use heat on my hair and since I was out of my older heat protection spray I decided to buy this one by Toni&Guy. I really hope it works for me since the product wasn’t really too cheap for it’s size! Along with using this heat protection spray, I also use a moroccan hair serum by Organix whenever I wash my hair. If you guys want a full hair care routine, do let me know!

Original Price: Rs. 725

I bought it at: Rs. 525

It’s still available for Rs. 525 as of October 24th’15 on

TOPSHOP Glow (Highlighter)

Shade: Gleam

Price: 9 pounds

IMG_2109I did quite a bit of research on TOPSHOP beauty when I found out that they’re available on One product that stood out in every single review I read was this highlighter called GLOW, and oh my god, now I know why. I don’t own too many highlighters and this is my third one but I am so, so glad I took the leap to try this out. It is the most stunning gold toned highliter that works amazingly for indian skin tones. When blended well, its subtle to catch light but it’s always visible in the nice way! I can see my self wearing this everyday as well as for a glam night out!

Lip Colours (From Left to Right)

1.  TOPSHOP Matte Lip Bullet – Plastique – Price: 5.60 pounds from Feel

2. Fleur de Force Lip Gloss- 050 Starry Night – Price: 6.99 pounds from Feel

3.Fleur de Force Lip Gloss- 040 Lucky Star-  Price: 6.99 pounds from Feel

4. Clinique High Impact Lip Colour Rouge Impact – 13 Flemenco – Price: 17 Dollars

5. Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Lipstick/ Rouge 410 Dynamic – Price: 30 Dollars

Swatches from Top to Bottom

(Note: The shades look glittery and I really really apologize for that. I did the swatches over the blended glow highlighter swatch which explains why. I am really sorry about that! The shades are in fact not weird and glittery at all.

IMG_2071 copy

1.  TOPSHOP Matte Lip Bullet – Plastique

It’s a beautiful mauve shade. Not really everyone’s cup of tea but I love it! I am a purple lips person and though I wouldn’t wear it on it’s own, I would probably layer with it Mac’s up the amp!

2. Fleur de Force Lip Gloss- 040 Lucky Star

It’s a beautiful red shade and even though I prefer Matte red lips, I just couldn’t stop my self from getting this! I am alsolutely obsessed with Fleur  and her videos and I knew I just had to get my hands on her collection. To my surprise, though this is a lipgloss, it’s not too sticky and has an amazing vanillish scent!

3. Fleur de Force Lip Gloss- 050 Starry Night

This is MY COLOUR! If you know me you would have seen me wear berry lips every single day. Yes, in summer, winter, autumn, spring. My everyday colour is berry. I don’t really know why but I guess it suits my skin tone well. Most of my berry lipsticks are either satin or matte finishes so I had to get a gloss version to glam up things a bit!

4. Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Lipstick/ Rouge 410 Dynamic

My dad bought me this lipstick and it’s a keeper! It’s the perfect nudey pink that one could ask for. Quite surprisingly, I didn’t have an everyday nude-pink and most of my nude lip colours were brown toned! I am really excited about using this even though it’s so stunning that I want it to last for as long as possible.

5. Clinique High Impact Lip Colour Rouge Impact – 13 Flemenco

Here’s a perfect warm toned red. I have been obsessed with Loreal’s Pure Red collection and especially the shade Blake. I knew I wanted a another red shade so got my hands on this beautiful red shade which is a little pinkish and a little orangish. As you can see, I am HORRIBLE at explaining colours. This shade will really suit indian skin tones!

=If you want me to review any of these products and want more beauty related posts, please do let me know! This was a haul post where I simply shared some of my new buys to give you some ideas of what you can purchase if you’re looking for some new makeup to try out!

How to clean your makeup brushes?

Today I am sharing with you my full proof, super cheap and easy way to clean makeup brushes! I got interested in makeup about two years ago and even though I don’t own too many brushes at all, I do find my self loving the ones I own. I will not lie to you and will definitely admit that I did not wash them for a long, long time initially cause no one told me to! I know thats not a good enough reason but it somehow just did not strike me that I should be treating my makeup brushes like hair! haha THEY JUST NEED TO BE WASHED! Since we apply these brushes to our faces, it sounds absolutely gross to not get rid of the dirt,makeup residue and bacteria. Ideally, one should be washing makeup brushes religiously once a week, but I see my self doing it once every ten days #iamhuman {I just edited this post, 4 hours after posting it. If you read it within those 4 hours, you would have read that I wash my brush every two days. THAT WAS A TYPO. Oh, god no. I wish I did. but I dont}

What you will need:

Olive Oil (for deep cleaning)

Johnsons Baby shampoo/wash (for regular wash)

Luke warm water

Paper towels

Now, if you are planning to clean your brushes for the first time/after a very long time/ have ALOT of makeup that’s really stuck and hardened on the brushes, I suggest you engage in DEEP CLEANING.

Here, instead of simply washing your brushes with shampoo, you will condition them with oil to break down the makeup particles and dirt along with conditioning the brushes- before shampooing. (It is very similar to oiling your hail on a pamper day and then washing them!) This method will also really work to get rid of gel liner from your brush since it leaves a very stiff residue.

1. Take 1 teaspoon of olive oil on a plate and dip your dirty makeup brush in it. The idea is to touch/lightly immerse the brush with the oil which will break the makeup. Don’t drench the brush in oil since it would not be easy to remove

2. Once the brush bristles have some oil in them, massage the brush in circular motions on the palm of your clean hands.

3. You will see the makeup particles break down on your palm.

4. Switch on the tap (Hence, you should be doing this entire process next to a sink/close to warm water supply). Start washing the brush facing downwards. Make sure that the head of the brush (the part that you use on your face) is not facing towards the ceiling and instead should be facing down into the wash basin. You don’t want the water to enter the shaft or the metal part since the brushes can start loosing their hair over time and become weaker, if that happens!

5. Once most of the oil is rinsed off, time to shampoo the brushes. Pour in some baby shampoo/soap in a little bowl or plate and dip the brush into it. Be fairly generous since you want to get rid of any bacteria and excess oil. Massage the brush in circular motions in the centre of the palm, again. Once you feel the makeup is completely out, you will get to know as the brush will start showing its original color anyway.

6. Time to re-wash the brushes. Just like last time use luke warm bottle to get rid of the shampoo/soap making sure that the brush (application part) faces downwards. The brush would be absolutely clean when the water running down from the tap and brush is clean! (Initially while washing the brushes, the water dripping down would be the color of your makeup)

7. Your brushes are squeaky clean now and need to be left to dry! For this, place 2-3 kitchen towels at the edge of a counter/table. Lay your brushes on the paper towels as I have seen in the picture. DO NOT wash your brushes and immediately place them in your brush holder/jar standing straight upright! The water will enter the metal part and you don’t want that. Hence, after washing the brushes, squeeze out the excess water and lay them flat!

Some tips:

If you are very regular with brush cleaning you don’t need to go the whole 9 yards and skip the olive oil step. I like oiling them irrespective since it makes them feel very soft after they dry. However, this step is skippable if you’re feeling lazy and the brushes aren’t too dirty.

Anything that is on the handle of your brushes is being passed to everything else you touch. To clean the handle of your brushes, pour rubbing alcohol onto a paper towel and rub over the handle of your brushes. This will not only clean but disinfect the handles as well. (This tip is from MakeupGeek)

Always dry your blushes flat on a surface or facing downwards. You can roll up some paper to create a little cylinder. Place the handle of the brushes on that while the head of the body lays on the counter like this.

I really hope this post helped you! I also wanted to THANK YOU all once again for 5000 followers on Instagram. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU mean so, so much to me. Your messages, support and love is what keeping me going. I love blogging and will never stop cause you all have made it so special.

How I organize my makeup

Hey guys!

Let me begin by thanking you on so much love you have given me on my last few posts! I am so glad that the website is back in action after the haitus! Since so many of you found my previous makeup post helpful, I couldnt stop my self from writing one more immediately.  In this super quick post, I want to share with you how I store my makeup. Though I am not that new beauty products and did own some in the past, I never really used them and stored them away in multiple pouches that were picked up only for weddings, functions or parties. Recently, I have started wearing makeup more often and hence the makeup bags were just not working for me. I am not the most responsible person and hence magically I would lose something or the other from these pouches which became a pain.

I then decided that I need some sort of storage where I can see all the products that I own infront of me rather than being tucked away in bags. What further led me to this decision was the fact that I had started forgetting about products that I owned cause I never saw them infront of me. As you can see in the picture below, I have numerous nude lipsticks of a similar shade not because I need all, instead, I wasn’t too sure I owned that shade since it would be hidden somewhere in some pouch in some bag in some cupboard. I was aware of the fact that if I have these products displayed infront of me on my dressing table, the chances are that I will actually use them regularly without feeling the need to buy more and more.

I then decided to search for acrylic makeup holders after looking at tons of youtube videos and talking to Shirin! I decided to try my luck on AMAZON INDIA  and boy did I get lucky! 😀 I found a lipstick stand with 24 slots for Rs. 689 . There were some other holders to going all the way till Rs.3000 so this felt like an absolute steal. Then, I got two more holders with multiiple slots of different shapes where one I use for products related to the eyes  and another for face/base products.

I wasn’t too sure whether to arrange the lipsticks according to color or brand and decided to go with the brand! There wasn’t any particular reason for doing this since most of the shades I own are pinks and nudes.lipsEYES & BRUSHES:

Though this makeup organizer has a mix of products, I tried my best to keep the vertical stand for my brushes, liners, mascaras and kajals. On the right, I have an eye lid primer, a blush and my setting powder which fit perfectly in that slot.  If you have more brushes, I highly recommend a different holder all together so that things aren’t too crowded! Those are available on Amazon India too! I would love to get more creative and DIY one though. It can make for a fun weekend project 😉

This organizer is amazing too since it holds all the little tubes of BB creams, concealers and a couple of my lip glosses too. In the bigger flat compartment, I have all my blush and contouring palettes. Since I love blushes and highlighters, I can see my self buying one more of these so that the palettes are placed easily without piling them all on top of each other.

I have a couple of palettes that I love and have been using for a while. I store these along with my foundation, powder brush and bronzing powder in this spacious makeup bag from forever 21 india (online). The bag is water proof was works perfectly for travel too 🙂

I am giving one 24 slot Lipstick Holder &  One Brushes + Eye tools organize to one lucky winner! The contest will be held on Instagram. If you’re not on Instagram, follow all the steps on FACEBOOK instead.

NOTE: In no way is the post to brag or show off my makeup. I found these amazing organizers and really wanted to share them with you! I do honestly believe that it will help all those who are new to makeup but not sure as to how store your new products. If you have been a makeup lover for a while, then this post should give you a little bit information on the current deals on amazon (hopefully! 🙂 )

Makeup 101: Winter Makeup Routine {Full face}

FullSizeRender (4)

Hey guys,

Today I want to share with you a list of products along with a full face makeup routine for winter. I recently got into using makeup and find it so much fun exprimenting with products and creating new looks. In this post I have mentioned at least one product for each part of your face. Please do note that this is NOT my everyday makeup routine and infact I don’t even wear makeup daily in the first place. This step by step product list + routine is a full proof guide for all those who want some ideas for an event, winter brunch, wedding or a day out where you’d want to dress up. This post should also help you if you’re absolutely new to makeup and want to go on a makeup spree but are not sure as to what products to buy. You can keep this list in mind and eliminate/add the products as you like 🙂 I have not explained the exact technique as to how to apply each product and I would love to do that in multiple posts in the future. I will also talk about makeup tools and non-makeup beauty products that are a must have in future posts! Please do let me know if you’re interested.

For some really smart and easy makeup tricks, go ahead and check out Shirin Rai Gupta’s blog post – Confessions of a Makeup Junkie. I learnt so much from it too! She talks about makeup tools, makeup removals, quick tips for eye shadows , her favorite makeup vloggers and lots more!

I must be honest and admit that I started used a primer fairly recently. Initially I wasn’t sure of what purpose it served but once I got my hands on Maybelline’s Pore eraser, there is no going back. Primers basically create a canvas on your face erasing or diminishing all pores that make sure your makeup stays on all day. Just take a pump and apply on your face (like moisturiser, especially focusing on the parts that have pores).

Products I love: Maybelline’s Baby Skin Instant Pore eraser

Benefit’s Porefessional

NYX Studio Perfect Primer

Having created a base for the makeup, next go ahead and apply foundation, BB cream or CC cream evenly all across the face. You can use a damp makeup sponge, a buffing brush or even your clean fingers. I’m personally okay with using my fingers to apply BB cream, so long as one takes enough time to blend it in the skin. The good part about the BB cream I use is that it gives a decent amount of coverage and can be built up for full coverage. In case of the the Rimmel BB cream, one doesn’t need a concealer too since the BB cream does the job well.

Products I love: Rimmel’s BB cream (Matte)

Maybelline’s Dream Liquid Mousse Foundation

Though the BB cream does the job, and equalizes the skin tone across the face, if you must, use the concealer to brighten up the under eye area prone to dark circles or conceal any zits that my skin may have. For this, both the concealers do an amazing job! Just make sure that you don’t tugg on the under eye area and use your clean ring finger to apply the concealer. You can also add the concealer/highlighter on the fore head and the side of the nose to brighten up these areas.(see image below)

Products I love: Rimmel’s Wake me up Concealer

Maybelline’s Dream Lumi Concealer

Maybelline’s Dream Matt Powder works as a dream to set the foundation and concealer in itself place. Use a powder brush to apply this powder, focusing on the T-zone area. This powder ensures that your skin remains matt throughout the day and the foundation doesnt budge from its place

The main purpose of contouring and highlighting is to bring in shadows and highlights on to your face, where the light would naturally fall. For those all you need is a bronzer or try improvising by using a matt eye shadow color that is a little darker than your skin colour.Use a contour brush for this or any brush that will give you a certain amount of precision. Apply the darker colour as shown in the image below. The darkest brown shade is the bronzer, lightest shade is the concealer, the pinkish shade is the blush and the glitter as shown in the image is an illuminator or the highlighter. For highlighting, you can use a highlighter or simply a lighter eye shadow that can pass of as on- something neutral ofcourse. Apply it right above your cheek bones, on the forehead and upper the lip as shown in the picture Apply the Blush on the apples cheeks on an upward motion as shown in the picture.

Products I love: Blush: Rimmel’s Lasting Finish soft colour mono blush

Revlon’s Photo ready cream blush

Bronzer: Rimmel’s Natural Bronzer

Bourjois Delice de Poudre Bronzing Powder

Highlighter: Revlon Photoready Skinlights

NYX Illuminator

EYE LID: To create a neutral yet fun look, I used the MUA  romantic efflorescence palette and the Revlon  Colour Stay 16 hour Eye Shadow quad.  On the light, apply shade 1 (as shown in the image). What i love about this shade is that though it;’s glittery, it stays on for the whole day and doesn’t budge at all. CREASE: In the crease of your eye, apply shade 2 to darken the look. Make sure you blend it extremely well so that no harsh lines show. EYE BROW HIGHLIGHT and NNER CORNER HIGHLIGHT: Apply shade 3 (Revlon’s Quad) to highlight the inner corner of your eyes and the eyebrow. If you don’t want to invest in eyeshadhow paltettes curently, I highly recommend Maybelline’s  24 hour Colour Tattoo. These single eye shadows are absolutely AMAZING. You simply need to apply this one shade on your entire eyelid and that’s all you need.

2.EYE LINER: Apply a winged eyeliner (Ill be happy to do a turtorial on the same). I use the Loreal Super Liner.

3. WATER LINE: I cannot go out without applying Kohl. I apply Kajal on the water line focusing it on the outer half of the waterline and not in the inner corner. Focusing it on the inner corner will  make your eyes look smaller.

4.  EYE BROWS:  #Thebrowgame is so, so important. Make sure you fill in your brows either with an eye shadow that matches your brow shade or use an eyebrow pencil. Rimmel’s Brow pencil is so inexpensive and does a brilliant job. I also swear by Benefit’s Brow Voluminizing Fiber Gel.

5. MASCARA: Apply atleast two coats of Mascara to add volume and lengthen your eyelashes. I swear by Maybelline’s The Falsies. It’s handsown the best drugstore Mascara available. You can also check on Benefit’s They’re Real which is known to do wonders.FullSizeRender (7)

I love a good pink lip and using two shades works wonders to create the perfect tone. I use the Rimmel Chubby stick  (Lasting Finissh Colour Rush)  all over the lip followed my Maybelline’s Colorsensational lipstick in light pink focused on the centre of the lips.

That completes a full face makeup routine! If you have any queries when it comes to the products (exact shades and specifications), their availability, techniques, tools  etc, you can email me on or comment on Instagram and I will surely answer your questions. Im so sorry for not being able to go in depth with how each product needs to be applied as this post would never end! I really hope this post gave you some basic information on the products I love using. 99% of the products here are drug store products and hence are extrmely reasonable. There’s no need to spend too much money on makeup especially when you’re a beginner. Most of the products can be used for multiple purposes as I talked about it earlier throughout the post 🙂

DIY Winter Skincare: Face Masks, Body Scrubs and Hair Masks

Hello everyone!

As many of you may know that I have my exams going on so getting out of the house has drastically reduced. Since I spend most of my time at home studying or procrastinating, I feel the need to ‘invest’ time in pampering my self once in a while. Now that winter has finally set in, for the majority of us our skin is dry and lathering ourselves in body butters sounds like the best option (not the cheapest though). Today, I am sharing with you super quick and easy winter skin DIY’s for which majority of the ingredients you would have in your kitchen pantry! There are a few basic ingredients like yogurt, honey, oats, coconut oil which are used multiple times across the recipes so do make sure you’re stalked up 🙂

There are all the ingredients you need for ALL the recipes 🙂 [Specific quantities are mentioned in each DIY recipe]

1. Oats – It contains avenanthramides, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds that soothe itchy, dry and irritated skin. Oatmeal is also great for acne-prone skin because it absorbs oil from the skin’s surface.

2. Egg – Brilliant for skin tightening, removing white-heads and oil blotting.

3. Honey – Natural cleanser, brightener and scar remover, moisturizer and is packed with anti-oxidants

4. Cocoa Powder- High antioxidant content, increased blood flow, has many vitamins such as A, B, B COMPLEX. Make sure, the darker the chocolate- more benefits.

5. Yogurt- It contains lactic acid which helps in exfloitating the skin, reducing wrinkles, clear blemishes and discoloration.

6. Banana – Gets rid of dark spots, hydrates and moisturizes the skin, diminishes appearance of wrinkles and evens out the skin.

7. Papaya- Containing Vitamin A and Papain enzyme, papaya helps remove dead skin cells and inactive proteins, thus rejuvenating your skin. It also reduces blemishes, heals sore or cracked heels. Finally, it can also be used in a hair mask for controlling dandruff

8. Coffee – It contains caffeic acid, which has anti-inflammatory effects and can boost collagen production.

9. Normal Sugar and Brown Sugar- Natural exfoliants. Brown sugar contains glycolic acid, that fights bacteria. It is a natural humectant so it absorbs moisture from your environment and deposits it into your skin.

10. Apple Cider Vinegar  Balances hair and scalp pH, removes product buildup, and treats dandruff and hair loss.

11. Mayonnaise –  Has L-cysteine–an amino acid and powerful antioxidant found in eggs that can give your hair strength, shine and structure. It also has oil which is a really good conditioner

12. Coconut Oil

13. Almond Oil or Almonds

14. Olive Oil

15. Vanilla Extract and/or Cinnamon (Optional)

Note: All the photographs are for reference and are NOT the exact measurements. Please look at the instructions that I’ve written for each DIY!

Apply to clean, dry skin and leave on for 15-20 minutes. Rinse with warm water. Pat dry. [In this picture I have used regular unsweetened cocoa powder, but try your self to get your hands on the purest form possible , ie absolutely unsweetened with a very high percentage of cocoa].

3 tablepsoons of Yogurt

Hair Masks

1) The  Cleanser Mask

2 tablespoons of Honey

1 cup of Olive Oil (depending on the length of your hair)

Mix them in a bowl and apply it on your hair for atleast 1 hour. You can also take a hot towel (Simply immerse a hotel in extremely hot water and rinse of the excess water) and wrap it around your head for the time you have the mask on. Wash off normally with a mild shampoo.

2) The Conditioner Mask

1.5 cups of Mayonnaise

2 tablespoons of Honey

Summer: Favorites of the season {Food, Drink, Fashion & Beauty}

Summer, though awaited at the other ends of the world is absolutely dreaded here, in Delhi. With temperatures rising to a 47 degrees (c),the thought of getting out of the comfort of a cool room makes us sweat. There are however some things that in spite of the scotching heat, I’m loving this season. In fact, these are precisely the things that have kept me me going and I just cant do without in these hot months. So, without blabbing any further, here’s what I’m loving this summer.

1. Watermelon, Feta and Mint Salad

water melon salad 1

watermelon salad

Come summer and watermelon forms a major part of my diet. Simply having it as a fruit can be boring, so this salad is perfect for a light yet filling summer lunch/dinner. What I love the most about this salad is how the saltiness of the cheese compliments perfectly with the sweetness of the watermelon.

Ingredients- (One Bowl)

  • 1/4th of a medium Watermelon cut into cubes
  • 1/14th cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 1/2 cup thinly sliced red onion
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh mint
  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lime juice
  • Pepper to taste

Simply combine all the ingredients. If you want to cut the sweetness further, add a little bit of freshly ground red chilies.

2. Mango, Ginger & Honey Salad

Just like the watermelon salad, I try to make the best out of seasonal fruits and this salad is hands down my favorite! Though it’s extremely simple to make, the complexity of flavours just makes me want to devour it every single day.

Ingredients- (1 bowl)

  • 1 mango cut in cubes
  • 1 tablespoons ginger juice
  • ¼ cup chopped red onion
  • 1/2 cup mint leaves
  • 1 table spoon freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 chopped green chily
  • Salt to taste

Add the chilled mango cubes and chopped onions in a bowl. For the dressing, mix the ginger, lime juice, olive oil, honey, salt and pepper. Add it to the mangos and garnish with mint leaves.

It’s really important to keep hydrated during the summer and what could be better than drinking tons of fluid which are not packed with unnatural sugars and coloring. Other than drinking water, I love making this flavored water drink at home that ensures that I’ve completed the H2O quota of the day.

Chilled Flavored Water

water 2Ingredients

  • A big glass/jar/bottle of water
  • 5/6 slices of cucumber
  • A couple of mint leaves
  • 2 table spoons freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon honey (If needed)
  • Ice (If needed)

Take a chilled glass of water and mix all the ingredients. I love how simple this drink is and can be customized according to one’s preference. Since this version of drink is pretty much a lemonade, at most times, I simply take chilled water, add some mint and thin cucumber slices for a while. It’s just like drinking normal water but with a some freshness to it!

Summer fashion in Delhi can be pretty tricky since even though shorts and a short leaves tee may be ideal, most of us are rather careless when it comes to applying any sort of sunscreen protection product. For me, summer is all about light weight clothing which I can wear for hours comfortably and at the same time not come back home with a bad rash or sunburn.

1. Kimono tops are a staple clothing item for this season. They are extremely light weight, loose and comfortable, yet mostly 3/4 in sleeve length.Kimonos are available in tons of patterns, prints and colors which automatically adds vibrancy to any outfit without trying too hard. Forever 21 (outfits below) has tons of fun options available in stores which are definitely worth buying! I am currently obsessed with the maxi length maxi’s but a shorter one’s can look really cute too. I may do an outfit post styling a Kimono so do stay tuned for that!kimono

2. Another clothing item that may or may not be ‘fashionable’ but are a staple for me are the Rebook Workout Pants (Skinny). These tights are too comfortable for me to able to put down in words. I must admit that even though I use them all year round, they work best in the summer since during the winter I try sticking to a heavier material which may keep me warmer. These tights contours to the body and it really does help to bring out my best performance while working out since they’re not at all flimsy. We often ignore out working out gear and hence investing in a couple of good quality clothing items that will last for a while is extremely important. I highly recommend checking out the Nike & Reebok stores since they have some great stuff in stock currently.

There’s just one word that sums up makeup for me during this summer and that’s Maybelline. I cannot even begin to describe how lovely the Maybelline products are. They are lightweight, gorgeous and yet do a really good job. Three of my favorites are-1. Blush Studio- Cheeky Glow (Peachy Sweetie) – Summer is all about keeping the makeup as minimal and non-cakey as possible. This is possible by using a cheek tint or a cream blush. Though Benefit’s Benetint is extremely loved by some, Maybelline’s Cheeky Glow collection is a forerunner as well! I am loving the shade Peachy Sweetie that’s perfect for my skin tone. The blush has a cream consistency and is easy to apply with a brush or simply using a clean ringer finger. Once applied it’s extremely lightweight and I absolutely love the natural glow.. A plus point is that it’s only Rs.250 versus Benefit’s Benetint which is Rs.2000.

2. Lip Polish by COLORsensationational (Glam 9) – Gone are the days where it was all about Matt Lipsticks. Though using a gloss is something that I was a little vary of before since it reminded me of my teenage years but nonetheless, I gave Lip Polish collection a shot & boy am I glad! The lip gloss is absolutely gorgeous and the shade I have is a light pink colour which works well for a no-makeup makeup look. I try my best to not go towards a darker lip shade over the summer, and hence the shade Glam 9 is perfect for me. The lipgloss is extremely moisturizing but luckily, not at all sticky (So goodbye to hair sticking to the lips).

I have swatched the Blush and Lip Gloss in the image below. Top – Lip Gloss , Bottom – Blush

3. Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealor- I guess my efforts to go in for a natural look over the summer is pretty evident by now and hence using a full coverage foundation is out of question. Though, I love using BB/CC creams, sometimes I can find that a bit too much to handle in the heat as well. So, the perfect solution is using a highlighting concealor and then covering up with a loose mattifying powder (if needed). I highly recommend the Maybelline Dream —–The dream lumi concealor does wonders to conceal and highlight while being so easy to apply. It definitely surpassed my expectations.

4. Lakme 9 to 5 nailpaint in Peach Promotion- Though this is not a Maybelline product, I am in love with the 9 to 5 range by Lakme. Their lipsticks genuinely do what they claim and I have been a fan for a while. I decided to try out the 9 to 5 nailpaint collection and came across this peachy pink colour which I fell in love with at first sight. I was surprised at my self since I do think that darker colours suit my skin tone better but I just couldn’t say no to this one.  The nailpaint works really well with 2 coats applied ( along with an additional top coat). I can see this one being a summer staple now!

5. Another Product that has been doing wonders for me os the Pantene Pro V Blowout Extend Dry Shampoo. Come summer and taking multiple showers in a day almost becomes a ritual but washing hair daily can be hugely problematic. This is where my holy grail, the dry shampoo comes into play. This dry shampoo is handsdown the best I have ever used. Unlike most others, it does not leave a white powdery residue and is infact transparent (almost like a deodrant for the hair). It smells just fine but works extremely well! Not only does it keep my hair clean for an extra day but also works like a texturing hair spray to add volume (especially while tying a side braid or making a pony tail.)

dry shampooI hope you enjoyed going through some of my summer favorites. All the products and recipes listed are tried out by me personally and I swear by them! If you end up using any of the products or try out the salads/drinks, please do upload a picture with the hashtag #melangeofmusings

DIY: Summer Glow

Hey everyone!

Today, I have a short post on some of my at home beauty DIYS! (Do it your Self). All of the masks and scrubs listed below are really soothing and in fact fun to make! Most of them have a cooling effect too which really helps to beat the summer heat. Since it’s exam time, these masks really help me to just sit down and relax while I’m taking a short break!

(I haven’t invented any of these DIY’s, but instead have gotten hold of them from different sources over a period of time.)

1) For perfect summer skin, you can make a pack by mixing together one tablespoon of honey with one teaspoon of lemon juice. Apply this on your face and leave for a few minutes. After about 10-15 minutes, wash the pack off. This allows your skin to appear healthy and glowing. This is also a great way to moisturize dry skin and give it soft and smooth appearance.

2) Take a quarter of a cup of milk, 1 teaspoon of honey and  one teaspoon of lemon juice. Mix all the ingredients in a little bowl. This mask would be extremely runny so you don’t need to worry about that. You can also add a few drops of almond oil to make the skin  thoroughly moisturized. Apply this face pack on your face and leave it for fifteen minutes. This masks helps in naturally polishing the skin and removing dead skin.

3) Prepare a Facial Mask by taking half a mashed banana, 1 tablespoon of honey and 2 tablespoons of milk. Apply this mixture to your face and allow it to sit for at least 10 minutes. Then lean it with soft and moist cloth and finally wash off with fresh water.I highly recommended this one for sensitive skin.

4) Mix half a cup of besan flour (Gram flour),  1 tablespoon of honey and 1 tablespoon of cucumber paste. (You can do this by putting quarter of a cucumber in a grinder- it really depends on the size of the cucumber). Apply the mask all over the face and neck. After 15 minutes remove it with a clean damp cloth. After 5 mins, wash your face properly with cold water.

Some Precautions and Useful Tips For Facial Masks:
First of all before applying any facial mask clean your face and neck with fresh water.
Remove all makeup, creams and lotions that may be on your face. Wash your face once  with hot water and a use good cleanser.
It is much better to take a hot shower or a steam bath to clean and open up your pores.
Once you have applied the mask, to wash it off, use cold water.
Before applying any facial mask first take a Patch Test on a little area of your skin. If it creates itching or an allergic effect then immediately remove it from skin and avoid this mask. Other than these facemasks, I highly recommend using an SPF 30 day cream daily even if you don’t step out in the sun too much and are mostly indoors.

1) Always keep your lips moisturized . Protect them with a lip balm enriched with SPF 15. Massage your lips with ice cubes .It will keep the them nourished and moisturized.

2) Apply olive oil on lips to give a moisture boost to your lips making them soft.

3) Make your own lip scrub: Take one teaspoon brown sugar, 1/2 tsp honey , 1 tsp olive oil and 1/4 tsp vanilla extract, Mix them all together. You can also add some mashed strawberry to give this scrub a pinkish colour.

Scrubing your feet and getting rid of dead skin is extremely important so here’s a really cheap way to go ahead with it. Take 2/3 cup white sugar, 1/3 cup brown sugar , 1/2 cup olive oil, 1 tablespoon vanilla extract, 1 lemon and a table spoon of honey. Add all of these into a mixing bowl and whisk.( If you don’t have brown sugar at home you can use a total of 2 cups of normal sugar instead)

I hope you try these out in a pamper day in or a sleepover with your friends! The next post will be up in 2 weeks since I have exams coming up! x
