Collective Beauty Haul: Feel Unique & Nykaa (ALL ABOUT SHIPPING AND CUSTOMS)

Hey guys!

I have been shopping for makeup on and off along with constantly trying out new products over the best few months! Since I have bought quite a bit of stuff in the recent past, I have decided to divide my haul into two posts rather than bombard you with one never ending blog post. So without going into too many details, lets begin!

The items shown in this post have been bought on & (my two favorite beauty sites! Nykaa is an indian website with tons of brands such as NYX, Batiste, Makeup Revolution; which aren’t that easily available over the counters in Indian drugstores! There are options of cash on delivery as well with great service that makes life really easy! On the other hand, FeelUnique is hands on one of the best international sites that deliver to India! What I love about is it’s amazing collection of brands such as Rimmel London, NYX, theBalm, Real techniques etc. It also houses brands that are easily available in india such as Maybelline and Loreal. However the makeup collection is international and you will find a lot of products that are not available in India (example: Maybelline  New York under eye eraser!) offers free shipping to India for an order over 60 pounds (Approx 6,000 Rs). There are no additional custom chargers. If your order is less than 60 pounds, there would be a shipping charge of 15 pounds (Approx Rs.1500).

Since  I bought these products a while ago, I have tried post of them out and will try my best to give as many details as possible. For the products that I can’t give much information about in this post, please comment on Instagram and I’ll surely give you an update!

Skin Care & Other essentials:

1. Nivea Oil in Lotion Cocoa Nourish (Rs. 120): This body lotion works really, really well for dry skin! I love lotions that spell of coconut and cocoa butter and this ofcourse was right up my alley! It’s extremely light weight and is not sticky on the skin either.

Bought from:

2. Feel Unique Perfect Complexion Blending Sponge (3.38 pounds):,  I wanted to try out different dupes of the beauty blender so got my hands on this one! I have already tried the real techniques sponge that I am obsessed with and to be honest, this does not match up to it. It does the trick of blending foundation into your skin but the effect is no where close to being flawless. The sponge is also not super soft like the real techniques sponge or the original beauty blender.

Bought from:

2. Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water (3.35 pounds): This  is my holy grail makeup remover. It’s absolutely fabulous. This micellar cleansing water works wonders to take out stubborn waterproof makeup without stinging your eyes or making your skin feel oily afterwards. It does such a great job that you after using the product, you need not even wash your skin and simply pat your skin dry. It’s the PERFECT dupe for the bioderma cleansing water and I swear by it!

Bought from:

Base Makeup:

1. Maybelline Dream BB Fresh (7.99 pounds) : I love using BB creams and hence I am always on the lookout for new ones. I bought this BB Cream as it claims the following:

– Creates a natural glow.
Compliments skin-tone.
SPF 30 UV protection.
Hydrates all day.
-. Blurs imperfections.
Oil free, non-greasy.
Looks visibly smooth.
Feels fresh.

Having used it a couple of times, I can say that it sticks to all its claims. It is pretty lightweight and doesnt feel sticky on the skin! I do however moisterize my skin before using this. It has a pretty good coverage for a BB cream and I was very pleasantly surprised.

Bought from:

2. NYX Above and Beyond Full Coverage Concealer: I have used this concealer only once and my first reaction is that I don’t like it. You need to apply this concealer on your problem areas with a brush. It’s a very high coverage concealer but is way too drying. In fact, I found it so drying that in my opinion it highlighted an area more than concealing it. I would try it a couple more times to see if it works better.

Bought from:

3. NYX Wonder Stick (10 pounds): I was really excited to try out a contour/highlight stick and when I saw this one from nyx, I knew I just had to pick it up. It’s a cream contour and highlight stick thats really easy to apply and blend. If you’re new into contouring, I would highly recommend this product since you can apply the skin directly into the areas required and simply blend the product with your fingers!

Bought from:

4. Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder: (3.99 pounds): I am one of those people that don’t leave my house without using a little bit of powder of my T-Zone so every chance I get to find the perfect mattifying pressed powder, I grab it! This one by Rimmel does a really great job and offers a great amount of coverage too. Sometimes, I wear it alone with just moisterizer on my face. If you any recommendations for a loose mattifying powder, please let me know! I havent found any that I like till date.

Bought from:

1.  Eylure London Complete Eyelash Kit (7 pounds): I am not a fake eyelashes person at all and haven’t tried a single pair ever. I bought this kit hoping that it will help me initiate into the Falsies world. The kit has everything you need from re-usable eyelashes, to an applicator and glue. But, truth me told: I havent tried it yet! I am just so scared of trying false eyelashes. Maybe, one day I will! It’s on my list.

Bought from

2. Maybelline Rocket Volum’ Express (7.99 pounds): If you have been following my blog and instagram for a while, you would know that I am completely obsessed with Maybelline’s The Falsies Mascara. It’s something that I buy again and again. This time however, I tried to experiment a bit and it worked! This Rocket Volume Express Mascara gives your lashes trememdous amount of volume making them look thick, and fuller. However, when it comes to lengthening- probably not so much. I would suggest pairing this one with Benefit’s Roller Lash Mascara for the perfect balance of volume and length.

Bought from

3.Maybelline New York Liner Express Eye Liner (5.09 pounds): If you’re looking  for a precision eyeliner, it’s this one! I am horrible at applying eyeliner so my goal is to find products that are very easy to use along with giving me scope to mess up. This eyeliner has the thinnest tip EVER. So, you can go slow and steady and create the perfect wing with precision. However, it requires patience since you won’t get the perfect wing in just one swipe.

Bought from

4.NYX Eyebrow Pencil: ( 5 pounds): For all those asking me how I fill in my brows in my recent selfies- here’s your answer. I am absolutely obsessed with NYX’s products and this one doesn’t disappoint either. This eyebrow pencil is so easy to use and feels just like a crayon. It’s really as simple as colouring in light short strokes to give off the perfect natural yet filled in look. I highly recommend this one.

Bought from feelunique.comIMG_7706

1. L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Moist Matte Lipstick – PM414 Sheer Plum (Rs.740): This is my THIRD bullet of this shade: Sheer plum and left to me, I can see my self buying 100000 more. This lipstick is really as perfect as it gets. It’s moist and matte at the same time; a combination thats so rare to find. The colour is a brownish purple and it looks fabulous on indian skin tones. TRY IT OUT!

Bought from nykaa,com

2. Rimmel Lasting Finish Colour Rush Intense Colour Balm- VIVA VIOLET ( 5.99 pounds): Just like Sheer Plum, this Colour Balm by Rimmel is my second bullet since I just cannot get enough of it. This balm is perfect for everyday wear when you want to glam up your look without putting in too much effort. It’s super comfortable on the lips as well since it has a really moisteruizing. It’s not very long lasting but I don’t mind at all since I carry it in my bag all day and re-apply it when I feel the need. I just love the pop of colour it gives to the lips in one swipe!

Bought from

3. L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Collection Exclusive Pinks EVA (Rs. 796): If a berry or violet shade is too much for you, then you should get your hands on this perfect pink-nude. I was looking for a shade like this for such a long time but couldn’t find one that suits my skin tone. EVA by loreal looks beautiful on my lips without washing me off! I love darker colours but this one is really nice for a day-to-day pink, especially in the summer.

Bought from

4. L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Collection Exclusive Pinks0 JLO (Rs. 796): & here we are back again, with a berry shade! As it’s pretty obvious by now, I am obsessed with dark purple-berry lip colours. I feel it suits my skin tone (or duskier skin tones) really well! What I love about this shade is how long wearing it is. It has the perfect balance of pink and purple and I feel one can pull this off in the day time too with a crisp white shirt!

Hey guys,

Since I am pursuing my Masters Degree, I do get “winter holidays” and trust me, I cherish them each and every year! This is the time of the year I really get to express my style and the outfit I have styled here speaks it out easily. As I have mentioned in every single fashion post of mine, comfort for me is the most important aspect when I style my outfits. The boyfriend jeans and boyfriend blazer helped me achieve that. To add a feminine touch to the outfit I wore a  stunning statement necklace and ring by Radhika Agrawal. For the love of Old School

Hey guys,

If you know me by now, there’s one thing that I absolutely cannot forego and thats comfort. By comfort  I dont simply mean comfortable clothing, but also the little things that keep us in a happy place. Ever since I was a kid, I would go to the Delhi Gymkhana Club and Delhi Golf Club with my parents every weekend and sometimes more often. There’s something about these clubs that lets me eat my cup of tea, yummy chicken sandwiches or even the endless array of sumptuous food {Sunday buffets YUM} without feeling guilty. Both these clubs being a century or less old are quaint and magnificient at the same time. Whether it may be the formal winter lunches, the simple relaxed tea hour or the crazy thursday/saturday nights, I can see my self spending hours there and not keeping any track of time {#truegrannyatheart}

Recently, Madhavi and I decided to visit the Delhi Gymkhana Club {a good place to go when the pocket is a little light}. Though we couldn’t make it for the lunch hour, we decided to sit down in the lawns have some tea with ‘snacks’ {Ofcourse!}. We ordered two cups of tea, my favorite- chicken sandwiches and one portion of cheese balls. Now, we cant go wrong with the former too, but if you’ve had the cheese balls then you know they exemplify addiction+weirdness in a whole. Though they taste strange, you can’t just more than one. Maybe its only me, but I have always felt that way since I can remember.

On an ideal situation , especially if it was a Thursday, we would have stayed on and moved to the bar by 7 pm, but since time wasn’t really in our favour, we decided to stick to tea and conversations. However, we did manage to go to the bakery (within the club) and pack some bread! {granny moment again} Trust me when I tell you that it’s some of the yummiest bread, ever!

Moving on to the outfit, I kept it as classic as possible with a white midi dress and moccasins. What I loved about this look is it’s versatility.  With a couple of accessories and a bright lip, one could easily transform this look from day-to-night. Now that its getting a little chilly, I can also imagine my self adding a leather jacket {to make it a  little edgier} or adding a blazer to keep it formal! A midi dress such as this should definitely be on the list of top 10 must haves. The moccasins on the other hand need no introduction. Yet another classic pair, you just cannot go wrong with them. Though these particular pair arent everyone’s cup of tea cause of their androgynous element, I just cannot get enough of them.

Yellow feat Blue Print Coleccion

Hey guys,

Let me begin by saying that I am so sorry for not uploading a post on the blog for a while! Though I have a really fun Instagram contest featuring India Circus running right now  {YOU MUST ENTER!}, I really miss blogging, taking photographs and sharing my experiences with you all! Now that this haitus is over, I am finally back and here’s what I wore on Diwali!

Diwali at my house isn’t a large formal affair and as usual, I love being as comfortable as possible. Recently, I received this gorgeous yellow jacket from Blue Print Coleccion by Divya and Navya Niranjan   and as soon as I saw it, I knew my outfit has to be styled around this beauty. What I love about this piece is how versatile it is. I can see my self wearing it to college with a pair of ripped jeans and high tops and completely change the look! Blue Print Coleccion also has tons of other indo-western pieces that are perfect if you want to take a break from the overdone Anarkali.

Further, the next element of my outfit that I just had to wear were my floral print pants [Oh, so comfy]. Now that I had these two vibrant pieces, to balance them I chose this perfect off white Kurta that toned down things perfectly. I really this outfit gives your some inspiration to experiment a bit this season! By changing the cotton Kurta to a gorgeous silk one and adding heels, this outfit would be perfect for a casual Sangeet too.

Travel with me feat BrownBoy

Hey everyone!

Today, I have something extremely exciting for you! If you have been following me on Facebook, you would have seen me talk about a contest that I would be posting on my blog: It’s finally here! {All the details would be at the end of the post }

I am constantly on the look out for comfortable yet chic outfits and recently, tshirts have been a big YES for me. I love wearing printed T-shirts which are perfect for summer since I can dress them up if I want to or simply lounge in them all day.

A while back I came across the website BrownBoy while online shopping (proven guilty). I instantly fell in love with every single item but what stood out the most for me was their New York Tshirt. The minute I saw it, I knew I had to have it in my closet.

brownboyfeatureThough I haven’t spent too much time in New York, there’s something about that city that makes me so happy each time I visit. This year (till now) has been extremely dull for me on the travel front but nonetheless, the wanderlust bug wouldn’t let go and all I can think about is planning my next trip. Whether it may be while I’m traveling or otherwise, the key element of all my outfits has to be comfort. For me personally, I don’t think I can enjoy my self doing whatever it is if I don’t feel comfortable in my skin.

The outfit that I have worn here defines my perfect ‘Travel in a city’ outfit. This is exactly what I would wear while exploring town all day. The t-shirt is really casual but I absolutely love the font and of course the text itself. On the other hand, the skirt adds the glam element on the outfit. Initially I wasn’t too confident about the length of this skirt, however, it falls beautifully and even though it’s sheer, the slip attached is of the perfect length. I usually never wear heels but these flatforms are perfect to add some height in spite of being as comfortable as wearing fat sandals.

Let it Rain: Monsoon Favorites {Featuring Sugar & Spice by Radhika}

Hey guys!

I am so glad that the rains are finally here! Delhi really needed the weather to change.I have a love-hate relationship with the Monsoon season. Even though the temperature does cool down considerably, it’s gets to be extremely humid & sticky (sigh). Today, I share with you  how I try and make the best out a rainy day.  Having followed Radhika’s blog Sugar n Spice by Radhika for a while now, I can confidently say that I am in love with every single recipe she has posted till date. I wanted to bring the best possible recipes for you to enjoy while sipping a hot cuppa coffee and who could be better than Radhika herself to share some her favorites. If you love these recipes, go on to her blog and see more food magic happen!  Moving on, I have also shared some of my fashion and beauty favorites for the season! From bags, shoes to hair masks, I have all my staples covered.  Finally, I want to thank each and everyone one of you for following me on Instagram! We have crossed 1,000 followers and I can’t even begin to describe how much that means to me! Please do spread the love 🙂

1. Transparent Bag: Come monsoon and I bring out my transparent bag to use when I’m going out for a quick errand. Since this bag is quite little I can carry only a couple of my essentials (Click here to see what’s in my bag ) but nonetheless, it works really well to keep things from not getting wet. I also love the hint of noon that literally brightens up a dull gloomy day. I got this one from Metamorphosis last year! They do have some really nice Monsoon totes this year so can’t wait to get my hands on them.

2. Jelly Flats: I try my best to ensure that most of my accessories are waterproof and hence another set of items I am loving are Jelly sandals. Though I absolutely love Rain boots, especially The Hunter Boots, for Delhi rains, jelly sandals to the job well! Both the pairs (Hot pink with gold details and Transparent with Pearl details) are from River Island. To be really truthful, I love wearing these on a non rainy day too!

3. Waterproof Mascara: When it comes to my beauty and hair care routine, I try and keep it as simple as possible. The main problem I face around this time is frizzy hair and dry skin. For makeup too, I try keeping it minimalist sticking to waterproof products. Currently, I am absolutely obsessed with Maybelline’s The Falsies Volume Express Mascara. I don’t know how this Mascara works but it’s absolutely magical! Not only is it volumnizing and waterproof, it’s totally clump free as well! It really lengthens the lashes without making them look spider like.

4. Soap & Glory Body Wash: For skin care, I’ve been using Soap & Glory’s Foam Call (Dual use shower and Bath Body Wash). This is handsdown one of the best body washes ever! Foam Call is formualted with M-SUDS moisture system molecules and grapeseed EFAs to reduce the drying effects of your daily soap up. Along with this body wash, I like using the Butter Yourself Body cream. It basically is a ludicrously fruity blend of super smoothing Shea Butter, orange waterjuice, fig pulp extract amd almond, mango and moringa oils. It is specially formulated to soothe and soften even the driest skin; it works wonders on rough elbows, bumpy upper arms and flaky lower legs – boosting hydration and richly nourishing the skin with melt-while-you-massage. Both these products are available across Sephora India stores.

5. DIY Hair Mask: Frizzy hair is one of my pet peeves and I try my best to avoid the same. My first trick is to cold rince my hair after shampooing and conditioning it. This smoothens the hair cuticles and prevents humidity from causing any catastrophic effect. Also, never ever leave the house with your hair damp—anything short of absolutely dry hair tends to frizz up quickly. As you all know, I love my home made Hair masks and of course, I couldn’t restrain my self from sharing one more with you all. For this hair mask, all you will need is a small cup of olive oil ,half a cucumber chopped and one egg. Mix all these ingrdients in a bowl and leave them on for atleast 2 hours. Rinse it once with green tea cooled down (This really works!) and then shampoo your hair like you normally do!

6. BOOK: Often rainy days are spent sitting at home and relaxing. My perfect day would be to sit in a cozy spot with a hot cup of coffee, a yummy snack and a fun gripping book! After having heard so much about #GIRL BOSS by Sophia Amoruso, I finally decided to give in and buy the soft copy. The hardcover copy is a tad bit expensive and since it’s imported it takes a while to reach India! The kindle edition however is extremely convenient and a lot cheaper too. This book is a MUST-READ for every girl! Though it’s a simple read it definitely does shout out to you and connect to you, especially if you’re a young entrepreneur. Read this interview with Sophia Amorosue on Elle Magazine to know more about the book and the author herself!

7. TV SHOW: Okay, I admit it. I am absolutely obsessed with binge watching TV shows. This season, I have been watching Vampire Diaries, religiously. I don’t understand of how foolish I could be to not have watched this show earlier. It was probably my hate for Twilight that kept me away from anything Vampire related. This show however is my new favorite since Gossip Girl ended (which was long, long ago). From mindless drama, love triangles to some serious vampire fiction, this is the perfect show to watch if you’re into additive teen-flicks. Though it’s not a really ‘intelligent’ show, it’s actually a lot of fun!

FOOD (Recipes by Sugar & Spice by Radhika)

1. Chocolate Chip Banana Bread “Moist, fluffy, subtly sweet..this Chocolate Chip Banana Bread has many fans! This banana+chocolate combination is sinfully delicious..try this recipe to taste a piece of heaven! “Despite their name, Banana breads actually don’t taste like breads at all. They’re more like sweet, moist cakes that are amazingly fluffy. Why they’re called breads is beyond my understanding, probably because they’re ideally made in a loaf tin giving it that “bread” look.. but who cares what they’re called as long as you can get a piece with some hot coffee. Absolutely perfect for a rainy day.” – Radhika

banana bread 1 INGREDIENTS

  • Flour, 2 cups
  • Baking Powder, 1 teaspoon
  • Salt, 1 teaspoon
  • Softened Butter, 1/3 cup
  • White Granulated Sugar, 1/2 cup
  • Eggs, 2 (at room temp.)
  • Overripe Bananas, 3, mashed into a paste
  • Buttermilk, 2 tablespoons (you can substitute it with yogurt)
  • Vanilla essence, 1 teaspoon
  • Chocolate Chips, 3/4 cup (plus extra to sprinkle on top)

In a bowl, sift flour, salt and baking powder and keep aside.

In a separate bowl whisk together butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. Add in the eggs and whisk gently for a minute. Please make sure the eggs are at room temperature. Cold eggs won’t mix properly. Add in the mashed bananas, buttermilk and vanilla essence.

Now add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients little by little until everything is properly mixed and a thick batter is formed. Do not over mix the batter or your bread will turn tough and rubbery. Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius for 5 minutes.

Transfer to greased loaf tin (9×5 inches) and bake for 45-50 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius or until a skewer comes out clean. I normally take out the banana bread and cover it loosely with foil paper after 20 minutes and then continue baking to avoid heavy browning on top. For best results keep checking your bread every 5 minutes by inserting a skewer after 40 minutes. Stop baking once the skewer comes out clean with a little chocolate and crumbs.

Transfer bread and cut into pieces once it has cooled down a bit. Serve for breakfast or with evening tea! I gobble it up as a late night snack too.. its perfect everytime.

 2. Corn Fritters with Simple Red Chili Salsa  ” A cup of tea with these Vegetarian Corn Fritters is all you need to comfort you on a rainy day! Perfect for this season..these fritters are bite sized and taste great with fresh Red Chili Salsa. Monsoons are here and all you need is a cup of tea and a few pakoras to comfort you but what if I told you there’s a way to jazz up your good ‘ol pakoras in no time? My corn fritters are crispy and flavorful, basically comfort food at its very best! If you’re on a diet now is the time to look away because they’re deep fried (as if your pakoras are not :p)  and I have no intention of changing that. Deep fried food has its own charm..yes its unhealthy..yes its fattening..but lets just reserve that argument for some other day. Because right now all I want to do is marvel at these mini crispy balls of sweet corn fritters aka modern corn pakora.” – Radhika fitters1 Serves: 2-3      Time: 15 minutes

For the Red Chili Salsa

  • Tomato, 1, skin peeled off
  • Red Chili, 1
  • Garlic Cloves, 3-4
  • Salt to taste

For the Corn Fritters

  • Onion, 1
  • Fresh Red/Green Chili, 1
  • Garlic Cloves, 4-5
  • Coriander, a handful
  • Canned Sweet Corn, 1 cup (Please Note: 1 cup = 240 ml)
  • All Purpose Flour/Maida, 3 tablespoons
  • Corn Flour, 1 tablespoon
  • Salt and Pepper
  • Oil for Deep Frying

Make your red chili salsa by grinding all the ingredients under “for the red chili salsa” with a little water until you form a smooth salsa dip.

For the fritters, grind together onion, red chili, garlic cloves and coriander in a blender with a little water until everything is smooth and paste like.

Add in the sweet corns, flour, corn flour, salt and pepper to it and mix. You should have a thick batter that’s not watery at all.

Heat oil in a pan and when its hot drop bite sized amount of batter into it. Take out the fritters when they’re golden and crispy.

Serve with the red chili salsa immediately. They turn soggy when cold.

The Corn Fritters recipe has been adapted by Rak’s Kitchen. The Red Chili Salsa is Radhika’s mom’s recipe.

3. Crunchy Caramel Popcorn “These crunchy butterscotch-ey caramel popcorns are the real deal! They are ready in a jiffy, take zero effort and taste divine! You’re never going to buy caramel popcorn again after reading this.” – Radhika

INGREDIENTS Makes: 2 regular sized popcorns    Time: 10 minutes

  • Butter, 100 grams
  • Caster Sugar, 125 grams
  • Clear Honey, 2 tablespoons
  • Plain Popcorns, 2 packets (without salt) (I’ve used Act II ‘Natural’ popcorns)

METHOD Start with making your popcorns as per the directions on the packet. Once the popcorns are done leave them to cool in a bowl while you prepare the caramel. For the Caramel: In a pan on low flame, melt butter, caster sugar and honey until the sugar dissolves completely. This will take a few minutes. Once the sugar has melted and the mixture appears a little foamy, increase the flame to high and boil the caramel for 2-3 minutes or until it reaches a golden color. Keep stirring constantly and scrape off the bottom ever so often. Switch off the flame once the caramel reaches a golden color and pour it all over the popcorns. Using two spoons mix the popcorns while coating the caramel onto them. Transfer them onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper and line in a single layer to let them cool for 15 minutes. Once the caramel has cooled and popcorns are crunchy break them up into individual popcorns (they will most likely stick together because of the caramel). Enjoy these crunchy caramel popcorns with your favorite movie! Store these popcorns in an air tight container for up to 3 days. For the best crunch, consume the same day. Radhika’s TIP: To get rid of the caramel from the pans and bowls, simply fill them with hot water and leave them for some time. The caramel will come off on its own. Repeat if necessary. popcorn2

What’s in my bag?

Heyy guys!

This tag has been extremely popular on YouTube over the years and I can’t be more excited to upload my own What’s in my bag post! The stuff in my bag changes more or less depending on the season (other than a few essential items which are always there no matter what). Here’s what’s in my bag that I have been using over the summer! {Especially during my summer vacations where I spend a lot of time exploring the city and spending long days outside}.

photo (54)

The bag that I have been using lately is the Louis Vuitton Never full (GM) and l absolutely adore it. I use this tote when I’m travelling as well since it can store so, so much {As the name suggests}. I must however admit that I wont carry all of this stuff just to do errands or even a night out!

What’s in the bag?

Wallet: To begin with, my wallet is one essential that I carry with me at all times. This one’s a gift from many years ago but I still can’t get enough of it. It’s the perfect size and though it’s simple, it’s got an elegant glossy finish to it which makes it look really special.

Sunglasses: One word- Cat eye. These have got to be one of my favorite pair of sunglasses. They are from Style Fiesta and hence weren’t too expensive either! I love having a good versatile pair in my bag at all times and this pair definitely fits the bill!

Specs: Just like my sunglasses, I have to carry my specs at all times too. I need my specs for driving or watching television and since I can be pretty careless, I don’t like spending too much on a pair. These ones are from Dayal Opticals.

Book: No matter where I go and for how long, carrying a book is absolutely imperative. I love reading and I find some to be the best time to catch up to my wish list! I just began reading Metamorphosis after having read so much about it. I must say, though I haven’t gone through, I highly recommend it! You can buy your copy here.

Portable Charger cover: My phone undoubtedly has the worst battery life ever and not having a charger with me can be extremely inconvenient for if I have to get through to anyone. Sometimes, carrying a normal charger defeats the purpose for it can get extremely tough to find a plugpoint and that’s where this portable charger from Puro comes into handy. It’s a really pretty white and gold cover which has a battery installed within it. As soon as I put the cover on and switch on a button, my phone starts to charge! I got this one from Dubai so not sure if it’s available here in India but is worth checking out.

Chewing Gum: Whether it may be mint or gum, you’ll always have a pack with me. I prefer the bottle packaging way more since it’s easier to find while I’m searching for it in the bag. Oh, and it lasts longer!

Tea Bag: However strange it sounds, I find my self carrying some sort of sachet of tea or coffee. This one is the TWG Waterfruit Green tea and its SO good! I’m absolutely obsessed with it and drink it every single day. Since I’m interning, I carry these in my bag for office #shameless.

Camera: Being a blogger and in fact simply having a passion for documenting things around me, I carry a camera with me wherever I go. Though I use my phone camera a lot but I do have my SLR handy whenever needed! Here, since I shot these photographs using the DSLR, I placed my cute little Instax Mini instead. I don’t carry this one everywhere I go but do like to have it to me on a date or a girl’s day out!

Earphones: If I have my phone, I have my earphones. These ones came with my phone itself and are really convenient to carry and are an absolute must when I’m travelling in the metro! Though I prefer listening to music over headphones, I don’t carry them every where I go (other than while I’m travelling or working out).

Wipes: This is one summer essential I just cant do without. These cool cucumber cleansing wipes are such a day saver. They cane be used for numerous purposes- whether it may be removing makeup on the go or simply cleansing away all the oil or dirt of a long day. They have a really nice cooling effect and feel refreshing when used in the soldering heat. They are available at New U stores.

Makeup: I do NOT carry makeup with me on a daily basis but these pack was lying in my bag since I carried it previously! One will find makeup in my bag if I know that I have a long day, followed by a long evening with no time to go back home in between. Carrying different items can be extremely inconvenient so nothing beats the Estee Lauder Travel Exclusive Makeup Kit (available at Duty Free). I just find it much easier to have all the products that I need for a simple day to night summer look in one place neatly packaged rather than creating my own travel makeup kit, which can be a time consuming process. If I am going to be carrying the kit, I would most likely also have my Maybelline Lip Gloss with since the kit comes with a dull nude lipstick that looks stunning with a gloss layered on!

Perfume: Another summer essential has got to a perfume. The one currently in my bag is Dior Addict. I love the scent for it’s the perfect balance of cranberry, orange and sweet musk. The size of the bottle is really convenient to carry around too!

Sunscreen Spray: Having a sunscreen with us is extremely important especially if we are outdoors all day! I hate how most sunscreens are so sticky on the skin and so I’m glad I found the sprays in the market. This sheer body mist sunscreen pray with SPF 50 is extremely light on the skin and does the job too.

Hair brush: No one likes to be sweaty tangled hair and a hairbrush is of course a must! I really want a tangle teaser too so if you know where I can get one, please do let me know!

Mirror: Though my phone has a front camera, I just love carrying this cute little ‘Bitch Please’ pocket mirror. It has a sturdy rubber lining and yes, its pink! (I got it from Happily Unmarried.)

Other items: Other things that weren’t there in this bag (SURPRISINGLY) are receipts, tons and tons of receipts. I happen to be a receipt hoarder and each time I buy some thing, I have a tendency to shove them in until they there reaches a point that I can’t find anything else in the bag.

I also carry my laptop with a diary if I have to work from somewhere and have a meeting. These two things though I don’t like tagging along with me until absolutely necessary.

Next, I have a magazine or a newspaper on me to keep me entertained during the metro journeys when I don’t have the patience to enjoy my book in peace.

I love my food so one will usually see my carrying a snack. Whether it may be a ziplock pack of almonds and walnuts or a tetrapack of Soy Milk (You would definitely find this in my bag! 😉 ), I like keeping my self hydrated and fed throughout the day.

Summer: Favorites of the season {Food, Drink, Fashion & Beauty}

Summer, though awaited at the other ends of the world is absolutely dreaded here, in Delhi. With temperatures rising to a 47 degrees (c),the thought of getting out of the comfort of a cool room makes us sweat. There are however some things that in spite of the scotching heat, I’m loving this season. In fact, these are precisely the things that have kept me me going and I just cant do without in these hot months. So, without blabbing any further, here’s what I’m loving this summer.

1. Watermelon, Feta and Mint Salad

water melon salad 1

watermelon salad

Come summer and watermelon forms a major part of my diet. Simply having it as a fruit can be boring, so this salad is perfect for a light yet filling summer lunch/dinner. What I love the most about this salad is how the saltiness of the cheese compliments perfectly with the sweetness of the watermelon.

Ingredients- (One Bowl)

  • 1/4th of a medium Watermelon cut into cubes
  • 1/14th cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 1/2 cup thinly sliced red onion
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh mint
  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lime juice
  • Pepper to taste

Simply combine all the ingredients. If you want to cut the sweetness further, add a little bit of freshly ground red chilies.

2. Mango, Ginger & Honey Salad

Just like the watermelon salad, I try to make the best out of seasonal fruits and this salad is hands down my favorite! Though it’s extremely simple to make, the complexity of flavours just makes me want to devour it every single day.

mango salad

mango salad 2

Ingredients- (1 bowl)

  • 1 mango cut in cubes
  • 1 tablespoons ginger juice
  • ¼ cup chopped red onion
  • 1/2 cup mint leaves
  • 1 table spoon freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 chopped green chily
  • Salt to taste

Add the chilled mango cubes and chopped onions in a bowl. For the dressing, mix the ginger, lime juice, olive oil, honey, salt and pepper. Add it to the mangos and garnish with mint leaves.

It’s really important to keep hydrated during the summer and what could be better than drinking tons of fluid which are not packed with unnatural sugars and coloring. Other than drinking water, I love making this flavored water drink at home that ensures that I’ve completed the H2O quota of the day.

Chilled Flavored Water

water 2Ingredients

  • A big glass/jar/bottle of water
  • 5/6 slices of cucumber
  • A couple of mint leaves
  • 2 table spoons freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon honey (If needed)
  • Ice (If needed)

Take a chilled glass of water and mix all the ingredients. I love how simple this drink is and can be customized according to one’s preference. Since this version of drink is pretty much a lemonade, at most times, I simply take chilled water, add some mint and thin cucumber slices for a while. It’s just like drinking normal water but with a some freshness to it!

Summer fashion in Delhi can be pretty tricky since even though shorts and a short leaves tee may be ideal, most of us are rather careless when it comes to applying any sort of sunscreen protection product. For me, summer is all about light weight clothing which I can wear for hours comfortably and at the same time not come back home with a bad rash or sunburn.

1. Kimono tops are a staple clothing item for this season. They are extremely light weight, loose and comfortable, yet mostly 3/4 in sleeve length.Kimonos are available in tons of patterns, prints and colors which automatically adds vibrancy to any outfit without trying too hard. Forever 21 (outfits below) has tons of fun options available in stores which are definitely worth buying! I am currently obsessed with the maxi length maxi’s but a shorter one’s can look really cute too. I may do an outfit post styling a Kimono so do stay tuned for that!kimono

2. Another clothing item that may or may not be ‘fashionable’ but are a staple for me are the Rebook Workout Pants (Skinny). These tights are too comfortable for me to able to put down in words. I must admit that even though I use them all year round, they work best in the summer since during the winter I try sticking to a heavier material which may keep me warmer. These tights contours to the body and it really does help to bring out my best performance while working out since they’re not at all flimsy. We often ignore out working out gear and hence investing in a couple of good quality clothing items that will last for a while is extremely important. I highly recommend checking out the Nike & Reebok stores since they have some great stuff in stock currently.

There’s just one word that sums up makeup for me during this summer and that’s Maybelline. I cannot even begin to describe how lovely the Maybelline products are. They are lightweight, gorgeous and yet do a really good job. Three of my favorites are-1. Blush Studio- Cheeky Glow (Peachy Sweetie) – Summer is all about keeping the makeup as minimal and non-cakey as possible. This is possible by using a cheek tint or a cream blush. Though Benefit’s Benetint is extremely loved by some, Maybelline’s Cheeky Glow collection is a forerunner as well! I am loving the shade Peachy Sweetie that’s perfect for my skin tone. The blush has a cream consistency and is easy to apply with a brush or simply using a clean ringer finger. Once applied it’s extremely lightweight and I absolutely love the natural glow.. A plus point is that it’s only Rs.250 versus Benefit’s Benetint which is Rs.2000.

2. Lip Polish by COLORsensationational (Glam 9) – Gone are the days where it was all about Matt Lipsticks. Though using a gloss is something that I was a little vary of before since it reminded me of my teenage years but nonetheless, I gave Lip Polish collection a shot & boy am I glad! The lip gloss is absolutely gorgeous and the shade I have is a light pink colour which works well for a no-makeup makeup look. I try my best to not go towards a darker lip shade over the summer, and hence the shade Glam 9 is perfect for me. The lipgloss is extremely moisturizing but luckily, not at all sticky (So goodbye to hair sticking to the lips).

I have swatched the Blush and Lip Gloss in the image below. Top – Lip Gloss , Bottom – Blush

3. Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealor- I guess my efforts to go in for a natural look over the summer is pretty evident by now and hence using a full coverage foundation is out of question. Though, I love using BB/CC creams, sometimes I can find that a bit too much to handle in the heat as well. So, the perfect solution is using a highlighting concealor and then covering up with a loose mattifying powder (if needed). I highly recommend the Maybelline Dream —–The dream lumi concealor does wonders to conceal and highlight while being so easy to apply. It definitely surpassed my expectations.

4. Lakme 9 to 5 nailpaint in Peach Promotion- Though this is not a Maybelline product, I am in love with the 9 to 5 range by Lakme. Their lipsticks genuinely do what they claim and I have been a fan for a while. I decided to try out the 9 to 5 nailpaint collection and came across this peachy pink colour which I fell in love with at first sight. I was surprised at my self since I do think that darker colours suit my skin tone better but I just couldn’t say no to this one.  The nailpaint works really well with 2 coats applied ( along with an additional top coat). I can see this one being a summer staple now!

5. Another Product that has been doing wonders for me os the Pantene Pro V Blowout Extend Dry Shampoo. Come summer and taking multiple showers in a day almost becomes a ritual but washing hair daily can be hugely problematic. This is where my holy grail, the dry shampoo comes into play. This dry shampoo is handsdown the best I have ever used. Unlike most others, it does not leave a white powdery residue and is infact transparent (almost like a deodrant for the hair). It smells just fine but works extremely well! Not only does it keep my hair clean for an extra day but also works like a texturing hair spray to add volume (especially while tying a side braid or making a pony tail.)

dry shampooI hope you enjoyed going through some of my summer favorites. All the products and recipes listed are tried out by me personally and I swear by them! If you end up using any of the products or try out the salads/drinks, please do upload a picture with the hashtag #melangeofmusings

Phantasmagoria:  fantazməˈgɔːrɪə,-ˈgɒrɪə : a sequence of real or imaginary images like that seen in a dream. Shahpurjat offers numerous moments to experience the same with its splash of art in every nook and corner of the urban village. To compliment these colours I decided to go ahead with a monochromatic outfit and break the myth : Black is not for the summer. I wore printed pajama pants (absolutely love this style) to create a casual day look which works well in the Delhi heat.

The art behind me is by Mattia Lullini and its absolutely fabulous.

photo 3To add some colour to the outfit, I wore a  pastels statement necklace from Faballey that instantly lifted the look making the outfit easily wearable from day to night. Finally, I added the wedges to tie the look together and give me a little extra height. The outfit details: Top – M&S, Pants – Forever21, Wedges – Zara, Necklace- Faballey.comphoto 2

photo 2One of the nicest stores in Shahpur Jat is definitely the The Wishing Chair which houses a little cafe called the Mad Teapot. I had heard so much about this store and FINALLY ended up going recently. This cafe cum store, tucked into the village is extremely charming and looks straight out of a fairy tale. I absolutely love everything that’s for sale, whether it may be the lights, stationary or simply the girly room decor. They also sell the items online which is extremely convenient if  you don’t want to step out in the heat. However, the little comfy cafe makes a perfect pitstop while shopping or walking through Shahpurjat exploring the art.

3My favorite element of Shahpurjat is hands down the street art which has added such dynamism to the urban village. Each painted wall tells us a story and takes us into the lives of the artist. All the work is a part of the festival St. Art Delhi that took place a couple of months ago. If you haven’t walked through the entire village and checked out the work, you really must! Here are some of my favorites:
